Even though she admits she crashed her vehicle while driving drunk with her children in the back seat, an Oakville mother has avoided jail time.
36 year old Cassandra Haight pleaded guilty in a Hamilton court to driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in her blood and leaving the scene of an accident in December.
She crashed into two parked cars, before driving the wrong way on Catharine Street North and being stopped by police in a parking lot.
She blew more than three and a half times the legal limit.
Since the crash, Haight has undergone treatment programs and has stopped drinking.
So, instead of sending her to jail, the judge has given her a two thousand dollar fine and 18 months probation.
