It's been exactly five years since a beloved, inspirational local girl lost her battle with cancer.
Maddie Babineau made headlines when she unselfishly used a wish from the Children's Wish Foundation to build a school in Kenya before she passed away.
She also sold jewellery from her hospital bed to raise funds for a well, so that young girls could attend the school, rather than spend their days hauling water from a dirty river miles away.
Maddie's generosity has lived on since her passing at the age of 15, thanks to her Mom.
Sharon Babineau says 100-thousand dollars was raised previously for a medical centre in Kenya and now, to celebrate the 5 year anniversary of her passing, she's hoping to raise another 50-thousand to help build a maternity ward at the centre.
She's asking for your participation in the 5km Mad4Maddie Fun Run/Walk on May 26th.
