The Region of Niagara is taking aim at a growing public health problem.
It is holding a prescription drug drop-off day on Saturday in response to a report whch found that one-quarter of Niagara-area youths have misused prescription drugs within the last year.
The pilot program encourages residents to dispose of old and unused medication at one of several collection locations throughout the region, between 10 and 3.
People can do so anonymously --- without even having to get out of their vehicles.
Niagara Regional Police and the O-P-P are supporting the initiative.
