Ontario's Agriculture Minister has had a first hand look at the frost damage which has devastated many tender fruit farms.
Growers are predicting the smallest crop of apples in a "long time", after blossoms that were brought out by mild winter temperatures were destroyed by frost two weekends ago.
Pears, peaches, cherries and other tree fruits are also affected.
Agriculture Minister Ted McMeekin has toured Mountainview Orchards in Beamsville as he decides what level of assistance the province can provide to growers.
For consumers, the likely impact is higher prices and shortages of Ontario-grown tender fruit.
