An 84 year old Hamilton woman has been rushed to hospital after a serious crash on the Red Hill Valley Parkway this morning.
It happened around 7:30 on the ramp from the RHVP to the Toronto bound QEW.
OPP Sergeant Dave Woodford says they're learning that the woman, who was driving a Honda Fit, was involved in not one, but two crashes.
For reasons unknown, the Fit came to a stop and was rear-ended into the car in front of it. Sgt. Woodford says again, for reasons unknown the Fit merged back into traffic, leaving the initial crash. That's when the woman rear-ended a truck.
She was trapped for a time before being extricated.
She's now at Hamilton General Hospital with life threatening injuries.
The OPP collision recontruction team was on the scene for several hours and the parkway reopened north of Barton Street shortly before 1 o'clock.
