First off this week, I'm going against Major League Baseball. It's new playoff system isn't making for any better races down the stretch. In the American League, all five playoff teams have already been determined. Sure, there are division titles still to be decided, but if there wasn't a second wild card, it'd be much more dramatic. You'd have four teams (Yankees, Orioles, Rangers, and A's) going after three spots. Remember when there were two division in each league and just four teams total made the post-season? Yep, the good ol' days.
I'm also contrary to anyone who thinks the Calgary Stampeders are a Grey Cup contender. Their four wins in the month of September came against only two teams: the self-destructing Edmonton Eskimos and the horrific Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The Stamps lost to Saskatchewan in their only challenge of the month.
Finally, a big slap upside the head to anyone moaning they won't have any sports to watch if the NHL lockout drags on. Are you serious? There are still two more months of CFL and four more months of NFL. Or try checking out the WHL, AJHL, or Golden Bears for your puck fix. Heck, there's always the NBA. Steve Nash is a Laker. A Laker. That's interesting, right?
