Temperatures are expected to be in the high 20s and low 30s for the next few days. These are peaks we're not used to in Alberta, where polar bears roam free and we cross-country ski to work.
Here are some guaranteed, 100% proven-to-work, beat the heat strategies. (By "guaranteed, 100% proven-to-work" I mean that no one has specifically said these things don't work.)
1. Stress and hard work can cause overheating and put additional strain on your body's natural cooling system. Take it easy at work. Don't be afraid to nap for a few hours at your desk.
2. If you don't have air conditioning or a fan, ask your co-workers to stand around you and wave binders up and down to get the air circulating.
3. Wear loose fitting, light in colour, and light weight clothing. Guys, a white kilt works great. Ladies, you can also wear a white kilt, though I think the female version is called a "skirt."
4. If you are waiting in the car while your spouse goes shopping, roll down the window a bit to let some air in.
5. Three words: Ice cream bath.
