It turns out the call of home is stronger than the desire to take care of unfinished business.
The University of Alberta Golden Bears basketball team improved every year under head coach Greg Francis. In March, Francis led the team to the CIS silver medal, losing the national final to Carleton. It was his third year as bench boss.
Last week, Francis left the U of A to take over as coach of the University of Waterloo Warriors. He'll have his work cut out for him, as you'll hear in the interview posted to the right.
Meanwhile, the Bears are taking applications to find a new coach. Whoever it is will inherit a strong team led by Jordan Baker. If team can win CIS gold in one of Baker's final two seasons, Francis will deserve credit for bringing in many key parts.
