I am so glad J'Lyn Nye will be co-hosting today. I'm working on 3 hours sleep and a lot of coffee. My day today was an early morning radio interview, Commonwealth at noon, CHED at 3 and The Citadel Theatre at 7. I try to only look one day ahead so it's not too overwhelming but even this one day seems pretty overwhelming all by itself. Having someone to talk to will help get through the afternoon and she'll be there to revive me if I pass out.
This is the point at which Graham, my wife and I question all the decisions we made for this year's festival. With some tickets still unsold for every gala we wonder if we should have added late show galas on the weekend. Should we have gone to a smaller theatre on the Thursday? Would we be sold out now if we hadn't offered as many shows across as many venues? Each of us has sworn we'll never do this again at least once in the past 24 hours. Was Lupus too unknown of a disease to bet 600 tickets on it? Many of the shows are sold out now... but will last minute purchases put us over the top?
What a week for Primeau to be on vacation. Last year she carried the shows for me while I dealt with the festival. What a week to run out of interviews with the Eskimos. So much coming at me at the same time. Our audio visual company asked me this morning what size the stage was at the Westin and my heart sunk... did I order a stage? What details have I forgotten? What disasters lay ahead? Will a snow storm Sunday strand 26 comics trying to leave the city?
This festival organizing thing is definitely not for the weak of heart.
