Primeau & Grose: Behind the Scenes

Nye and Scott
Posted 10/11/2012 10:24:00 PM

I'm off to Calgary today for the second leg of this years comedy festival. The first was the Young Guns Comedy Competition and the third is the festival itself which starts Wednesday.  ATB Financial wanted Graham and I to organize a Calgary Comedy Festival. We didn't want to. The compromise was "ATB Comedy on Tour" Four Shows in and out... nice and easy. Or so I thought.

When Primeau and I went over possible conflicts to her taking time off  I overlooked the fact that the first Calgary show starts at 7. Even with a short radio show today I just can't get to Calgary in time to get on stage. With J'Lyne in for Primeau we turned to Morley Scott for help. So today it will be Nye and Scott. I know it doesn't have the same ring as Primeau and Grose but I've never loved that name anyway. I always tell people the show I do is called the 630 CHED Afternoon News. But I digress.

I can't wait to hear the show today. I'm actually really excited about it. In fact... I'm planning my departure time around being able to listen the whole way down to Calgary. I know Primeau listens to the show when she's off and I'll admit I tune in when I'm off but neither of us have ever listened in when we're both off. Whether it's Primeau or me running the show... we run the show. No one else has run the show in 2 1/2 years but both Nye and Scott have been fill-in co-hosts several times. What does it sound like when they co-host with each other?

I want it to be good. In fact I'd be okay with it being great. To me it's sort of like watching someone else do my act. I want to hear what everyone else hears every day on their drive home. I want to be the audience for once. It's not the same when Primeau's in. It still sounds like our show... sort of. When I'm in and Primeau's out is sounds like our show. But what does the show sound like without either of us?

I guess we'll find out at 3.
