I've known about this for awhile but next weekend it starts. You'll recall last year I contributed to Morley Scott's Eskimo pregame shows with a segment called "From The Sidelines" It was originally supposed to be something I voiced here at the studio but became something I filmed down at Commonwealth. The problem became finding a convenient time for the Eskimo's AV department to get it done, for me to be there when they asked me to, for editors at CHED to make it website ready and then getting it over to our web guy to be posted. It often became a problem.
This year CHED and The Eskimos decided to take a new approach to the whole thing. I'm going to interview 20+ Eskimos during training camp and then those will be aired as the season. I'll be happy to get it all done in a day and then be able to sit back and enjoy them with everyone else on a weekly basis.
The really cool part for me is getting to meet all the Eskimos. I'm a huge fan of the team and the sport. I meet and have met a large number of famous comedians over the years but it really wasn't all that thrilling for me. I don't care about fame. I LOVE talking football though and who better to do that with than professional football players.
I love the fact that being at CHED made this possible. One more reason I'm so glad I gave radio a try. Who knows... maybe next year I'll meet an Oiler.
