I'll be the first to admit I've been under a lot of pressure lately. I'm trying to organize a comedy festival around doing radio and comedy. I haven't been able to get every venue or every comedian under contract despite starting months earlier than I did last year and it's frustrating to be stalled while you wait for an internationally touring comedian to send you a headshot. The only good news with the festival is that this year I'm sleeping with the Festival's GM although that also means my wife and I never talk about anyting but the festival.
Now I hear Lesley's taking a couple of weeks off and having to anchor the show with somone new or by myself is always a lot more work. That would include, by the way, shows immediately following a provincial election which is the one time I REALLY need Lesley's insight. It would be wrong to have a landmark election and then do a show on sandwich spread. If it's a minority government I'm going to need help making sense of it.
With all that I have going on in my head I'll admit I completely lost it on air the other day when Lesley accidentally played "Ällouette"off a website last week. She had opened the site while we were off air and the ad on the page was still loading as we went on the air and right in the middle of a sentence the song suddenly blasted in the studio and none of us could figure out how to turn it off. I just lost it. I was gassping for breath. It was so funny to me that I actually fell off my chair. To have Lesley yelling "Who's doing that? Oh! I'm doing that!"was the funniest thing I've ever seen inside of these 4 walls.
