So, are you enjoying your summer, so far? I wonder if Richard Hurlburt, is. This is the former Nova Scotia cabinet minister who ripped off his own province for more than $25,000. He pleaded guilty to breach of trust and fraud. There was that bill for $9,000 generator that didn’t exist, and three grand for a big-screen TV for his home. The Herald News reports his lawyer argued the problem was really the poor way the allowance system was set up that allowed this to happen. Before you say, “Nice try,” this criminal politician is not going to jail. The crown wanted up to a year, but the defense pointed out he is remorseful and he can’t sleep at night, poor baby.
