An RCMP intelligence report says there’s a growing radicalized environmentalist faction in Canada. The concern is for what could happen offshore, and perceived potential damage to oil platforms and marine shipments. The ears of Greenpeace members went up. Instead of investigating activists, they say the Mounties should be looking closer at companies like Enbridge and Shell and their own activities. Greenpeace correctly points out that in all the years they’ve been making headlines, they have never been violent. They remind the RCMP that civil disobedience is not a crime. Maybe not, but it’s irritating and it costs the taxpayer money for all the time police spend sorting things out when activists hang banners on buildings or rappel from the rafters or chain themselves to equipment or delay a project by trespassing. If Greenpeace truly believes it has support for various protests, they should climb out of the complicit media spotlight ...
