Dumbed Down

The issue of the High School No Zero Policy is not going away.  You are writing to say getting away with doing nothing in school is what leads to the sense of entitlement some have as they enter the workplace.  Linda says some young people on their first job expect her (like their mother?) to get them to and from work.  That’s if they feel like coming in and some see nothing wrong with not showing up.  She says some demand raises in pay immediately.  They want what their parents have now, not what their parents had to work for.  John hired an articulate young man who only lasted a week; he could not believe he actually had to get his work done.  Then he hired a young lady who didn’t show up for work some days, but demanded to be paid because her name was on the schedule.  John ...
