The U-S and Canadian media regulators have been working on the same problem for some time now: The issue of TV commercials that are louder than the programming. I thought while the regulations headed for a September deadline, some stations must have already fixed it because I haven’t had a complaint in a long time. Yet, as soon as I blogged about this today I heard from people saying the problem is still there, mostly on American stations, it just seems pointless to complain any more. Others say some new TVs have settings to take care of that. We live in a world of constant noise. Music can be as loud as a jackhammer as long as it’s constant. It’s the stop and start of the jackhammer we complain about. And, it was the sudden jackhammer effect of the commercial telling us to ask our doctor if the purple pill ...
