Every once in a while an issue arises that puts Christmas lights around my inbox. The story of the disgraceful Mountie is doing just that. People cannot believe he did not get fired. He got a two week unpaid vacation which you point out will likely be made up with all that RCMP overtime, a minor demotion and he has to go live in beautiful British Columbia. That’s the punishment for having sex with subordinates in his Mountie office and his Mountie car? At the same time, in the American Secret Service scandal in Columbia, four of those fired are now fighting their dismissals. The Washington Post reports these men say they are scapegoats for what has long been condoned, and that agents bring women to their hotel rooms without hesitation.
