Women's Disappearing Rights

We’ve just been through a provincial election that raised the specter of what some considered racism and what others considered intolerance against a specific group.  Still, we got to vote and choose a government and the legislature will continue to operate, hopefully, with a more effective opposition than we’ve had in the past.  Imagine if you were living in Egypt, and had demonstrated for months to get rid of the government leaders.  They finally leave. The military takes over but then they don’t want to give up power.  Then, the Islamist-dominated parliament suggests removing gains made by women.  They’re reportedly planning to take away a woman’s right to an education and employment.  They want to lower the age to marry to 14.  They want to take away a woman’s right to divorce without being road-blocked by her husband.  Egypt’s National Council for women is begging the parliament not to do ...
