Movie Madness

After last week’s movie murders in Colorado, I had a person tell me they’ve never been comfortable in a darkened theatre full of strangers, and now they may not go any more.  If you make that choice, the bad guys win.  The terrorists have already made too many points.  After 911 our lives changed.  Before boarding a flight we have to take off our shoes and we are restricted as to what we can bring aboard.  Some admit to me they are still suspicious of some people waiting to fly, depending on how they are dressed.  In keeping us just a little bit afraid, the terrorists win, even from beyond the grave.  We cannot be held hostage by our fears.  Otherwise, 911 would keep us off planes and Taber would keep us out of High School and Toronto would keep us away from barbeques and Colorado would keep us out of theatres.  Still we have to be aware of what’s going on around us, and although we may be giving psychos the edge, do you think we may have to consider a little security, even when it comes to something as seemingly innocent as popcorn and a movie?  Let me know what you think.

    To be honest, it was bound to happen. Whether it was Batman, Superman, Star Trek, Star Wars, or any other genre film, you were going to have someone finally snap.

    There was someone on IMDb who had threatened to throw dog feces at the people wanting to see Star Trek (2009). I have seen people who were bullying other people for even simply liking Superman Returns or Star Trek (2009), saying that it was wrong to even liking them. I have even seen post that Star Trek was racist because Wrath of Khan had a black captain die while a white Admiral was the hero.

    There is a saying "Live each day as if it is your last" - meaning to live life to its fullest. Fate is fate and Your "Best by" date is your "Best By" date. Some die suddenly (incident or illness) Some die long, lingering, painful deaths. I lost my husband a year ago to a sudden illness. Death does not scare me anymore. The only reason it did before was because I would not be with him. Just make sure your affairs are in order and HAVE A LIFE. Ride a motorcycle. Go to the movies. See parades. Hang glide. Don't let the bad guys take your life away. A life in fear is no life at all.

    The continuing saga of "As Edmonton Turns" -- arena, Indy, Capital EX, Klondike Days, City Airport, airport development, and so on. Always a controversy. Small minded thinking -- a myopic view of the bigger picture. The solution, let Edmonton become the mustering point for the gold miners heading north -- the only concern is where to put the dog poop.

    Point well made, Bob. One of my favourite sayings is "Be driven by joy, not fear" and I feel that this really applies to situations like this. While the incidents you mentioned are truly tragic, we should remember that thousands of people fly, view movies, and attend barbeques every day without any harm. Do not let these few bad apples take the joy out of your life.

    The real question is who are the terrorists? There are two sides to every story. Some are saying that a manchurian candidate was set up, that is mind controlled, to do the job so as to pave the way for gun confiscation in the US. Problem, reaction, solution. I wish it were only shoes you have to remove at the airport. People are being bombarded with dangerous amounts of ionizing radiation or physically violated if they don't comply with the scanners. The powers that be want us to live in a state of constant fear as it retards our growth spiritually, and makes us easier to control.. 9/11 paved the way for the takeover of our freedoms.

      @Sharon II I'm on the same page on this one Sharon II. Seems a little coincidental that the thing in Toronto and this happens almost back to back. Don't know why but the whole thing seems fishy. Nothing adds up...especially with the guy in Colorado. Don't even get me started on 911. Glad to know there are a few people with blinders off out there. Stay vigilant!

    When I hear you say "we may have to consider a lttle security", would you be suggesting that perhaps the events in Aurora may have been different if several inthe audience was carrying a form of their own "personal security" and had their own side arm? Surely, you weren't intending posting screening agents or armed personel before entering a movie and popcorn like you see at airports. To me, the latter is more of an invasion of my personal security.

    Bob replies: I was just looking for some ideas from you, since whatever we're doing now didn't stop 71 people from being shot in Aurora.

    We are not being held hostage by OUR fears,...we are being held hostage by those who have created Multiple Levels of FALSE fears through the media, news, videos, and every sort of public forum,..in order to usurp our rights and our freedoms that have been firmly established on this continent through centuries of history and free thinking men and women,...and "they don't like it"...it interferes with their MASTER SLAVERY PLANS!!!
    What do you call a "little security" Bob?....The establishment of TV cameras and audio listening devices and inspection in every way in every orifice of your body or your family, or every orifice of your city or home?
    The ones who have created the FALSE FEARS would be more than happy to set that up for you,..of course,..you will pay the bill for that! AND WE ARE,...IN SPADES!!!
    Do you mean to tell me that a four year old girl/baby or some 80 year old Grandma or Grandpa, sitting in their wheelchair in an airport is a treat to anybody...TO ANYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!
    In my opinion,...depends on their race or religious background because that is what ALL of this TERRORISM is base on! Racial profiling,...ABSOLUTELY!!!

      @The Bona Fide Infidel - Mr.John Right on Mr. John! I think there are many, many (most) people who feel the same way! It is about time that we start taking back control of our rights and freedom. I think that is what the "Occupy" movements have made an attempt to do, but the message isn't clear just yet and they are disorganized.
      They need to pick one,..and then go with it. THEY WILL!

    Archie Bunker,..in one of his TV episodes was asked how you stop terrorism on a airplane?
    His answer, much to Meathead's dismay: "You arm ALL the passengers. You hand out guns to every passenger when they enter the plane, and then take them back when they get off the plane...case closed!!"
    I don't know,...might work??? Should submit this idea to the lunatics that design the security systems,..including the TSA,..would sure cut down on the bad sexual body frisks,..of the children and women!!!
