It’s Friday – time to hear your thoughts.  People against the NO Zero policy at Ross Shep want Lynden Dorval to run for trustee next time around.  They see a lot of support.  About the strike at the Hardisty nursing home, some want an audit to find out if the claims of pocketed government funding are true.  About the province paying for gender reassignment surgery while denying other procedures, Sharon thanks me for saying what’s right even though it may not be popular.  Many letters hoping the government will start funding other needs, and a couple of letters accusing me of being homophobic and promoting hatred, oddly enough, for suggesting equal treatment.  I have explained to them that I understand a person's sexuality is not a choice.  What they do not know is that I worked for some time with an openly gay boss and his partner, here at 630 CHED.  My boss spent some time in my home and we went flying together, and I learned from him that he did not choose to be gay.  We've had gay people on staff.  One, who suffered for years with a gender identity crisis is now in another province preparing for GRS.  I assessed this person in writing as a valuable employee and support whatever he feels is right now, for him.  And one final word, Angie says if the province is so big on how people look, how about paying for her daughter’s braces?  Let me know what you think.

    Not quite the words I emailed. What I said was "Don't get me wrong I am all for people wanting to look the way they feel but come on, for the government to fund this cosmetic surgery is ridiculous. Does the government fund parents who need to get braces for their children? That's a cosmetic surgery."

      @Angie M It's a cosmetic surgery,...they just can't show it....well, at least I hope they don't!

    Your editorial (June 13) about the taxpayer paying for "gender reassignment" (gotta love those euphemisms)when there are so many urgent cases sitting on health care backburners was a good one. Please continue to point out the ludicrous and sometimes totally hypocritical decisions made by our governments, resulting solely from vote obsession syndrome rather than good judgement.

      @Jayne B I like that,...."vote obsession syndrome"....now Jayne,...don't going saying that too loud. We wouldn't want it to become part of some ongoing golden parachute awards for our ludicrous,...I mean,...illustrious fearless leaders!

    One of the biggest myths is that homosexuals don't have a choice! There is no evidence to support the claim that a person can be born homosexual. "Three types of studies are generally touted as 'proving' that homosexuality is an inherited trait, and each has been shown to be inconclusive...all have significant flaws that discredit the research." (familyfacts.ca) There is freedom from homosexuality. Behavioural therapy has been found to have permanent sex identity reversal rates of between 65% & 71% (Exodus International)

    Bob replies: Expect some push-back.

    Just curious why the "alleged" hit and run driver from last week has not been named in the media? Isn't it common to see the name of the individual who commits a crime and turns themself in on the news? Or is it because they live in Riverbend and drive a Porshe? Just curious?

    Bob replies: He has not been named because no charges have been laid. Investigation continues.
