CORUS Feeds Kids
Posted 5/17/2012 4:27:00 AM

Today is CORUS Feeds Kids day.  CORUS radio stations across Canada are accepting donations for local food banks to buy “kid friendly” foods.  When I was a kid my dad went from job to job, honoring his responsibility to feed his family.  Then, the jobs dried up and so did the kitchen cupboard and there were children and a worried mom waiting for supper.  My dad’s prized possession was a German Luger pistol he brought home from the war.  He put it in his belt and put some shells in the pocket of a jacket that would conceal the pistol.  Downtown he walked up and down the streets trying to figure out how to get the money to feed his family.  I can’t imagine the terrible thoughts that went through his head.  Finally, a non-drinker, he walked into a bar and unzipped his jacket, exposing the weapon.  The bartender made it plain he wanted no trouble.  “Take what you want.”  Dad asked if he knew anyone who might want to buy the pistol.  The bartender said, “You’re looking at him.”  And, so it was, we had supper that night.  There was no Food Bank, then.  There is now.  Would you help CORUS feed kids?  Donation information back on the home page.

A lot of people have burglar alarms for a sense of security.

With me, it's a full fridge, full pantry, all the bills paid up, full tank of gas, mortgage up to date, some money to get us through to next pay day, and a pay check that can cover that. At the moment I've only got 3, working on #7.

I wonder if you’d grant me some leeway to state an opinion that won’t be shared by many, and may seem selfish. I’ll try this allegorically: if I were to purchase an expensive car and then beg donations to make the payments, I likely wouldn’t get a lot of sympathy; rather, most would advise me to sell the car and find something I could afford. By that same logic, if I were to have a bunch of kids I couldn’t afford to feed, and then beg others to provide, should I not be viewed the same way?

The difference, I suppose, is that kids aren’t traded in as easily as cars. However, with some forethought the situation is avoidable. There’s a movement called VHEMT that advocates the complete cessation of human procreation. Once you open your mind to the idea that humans don’t need to exist, and that this planet might very well be better off without us, the idea of voluntary extinction actually becomes quite attractive, and solves all of the problems that charities merely prolong.

Bob replies: I'm granting the leeway only so others can appreciate the kind of addled thinking that is out there.

@Paul Life happens Paul. Not everybody is born into a great financial situation. Some are but then lose there jobs. Sounds like you would advocate people being sent off to work camps or prisons if they are down on their luck. To make such an inane comparison as kids and cars seems LUDICROUS. I assume you are probably good with the idea that people below a certain income level should be sterilized. YOU are what is wrong with the world. I know...lets take it a step further and load more taxes on them so that they PAY YOU BACK for all the trouble they've caused. You should be a speaker at the next Bildeberg meeting. I'm sure your views will go over extremely well.

@Paul Thank you Bob, for allowing this one man's opinion.
Actually Paul, you're concept of the car purchase is exactly the wave length that our current Conservative government operates under. Buy it, and we'll find enough suckers to pay for it..now,...or for many future generations.
As far as VHEMT is concerned, it is just too bad that this concept wasn't at full fruition prior to your parents conceiving you...just think about how much better the world would be without you, and your cold, heartless attitude.
I heard that Harold Camping, the Rapture King, is booking space for his next rapture flight,...maybe you might like to book a flight on it,....then all yours and our problems would be solved.
Call your travel agent,...I think they take VISA. Just make sure you pay the bill before you leave,...so WE don't have to pay it for you.

I know you just lost your Dad very recently Bob. You are so lucky that your Dad did what he did at "that" time in history. Nowadays, with the cops "hit them in the chest, shoot to kill" policy your Dad if discovered by police might not be here today, for that reason.
