Lake Of Fire
Posted 4/20/2012 1:54:00 AM

It’s Friday, let’s open the email and Twitter feed.  When I did the Money For Nothing and Your Checks For Free editorial about the do nothing committee, Tory fans accused me of siding with Wildrose.  When I did the intolerance and racist piece, Wildrose supporters accused me of working for the PC’s.  Some on both sides accused me of being paid off by the other guys.  As for what freedom of expression means, Kikki Planet tweets, for her it means you have the freedom to keep speaking while she walks away.  As for the mayors of Edmonton and Calgary criticizing Danielle Smith, some wonder if money for pet city projects might not flow as freely under a Wildrose government.  Roger says some entrepreneur should open a pub called The Lake of Fire, and advertise it as a place to come and spend a long time, even eternity.  And the best tweet of the week comes from Allison MacKay who says she is glad her forefathers did not shrink from legislating contentious social issues, otherwise, as a woman, she would not even have the right to vote.  Let me know what you think and have a great week-end.

Next week I am sure pundits will be reminding us that people died so we could vote.
In WW2 milllions died fighting a regime that had been voted into power.
So, it is not just our duty to vote, it is our duty to vote responsibly.

Bob replies: Such an excellent comment - I'll use it it in Monday's editorial.

Those legislators Allison,....some did it out of conscience,...and a lot passed those legislations, because they got tired on sleeping on the couch!

Ha! What took her so long? I walked away a few days ago. I will be voting. Hoping everyone else does! I've been working on the same old cause for almost 20 years now. Isn't that the meaning of insanity?

Legislating contentious issues is very different to supporting bigotry, intolerance and self-righteousness. It is a sad day when Albertans justify a pastors right to "free speech" when it is based on arrogance and ignorance and diminishes the very people that God created.

With all the hype over the upcoming election I would like to say

    Think Albertans Think

Do your homework read the biographies of the candidates. Look at who is supporting these candidates

    Who best reflects your values?

    Think:

Who would best represent Albertans, that is us? :

    in our province,

    in our country and

    in the world

Let go of the hype of each party and make the best decision for you and the rest of us that live in this province.
