Promises, promises.
Posted 4/11/2012 1:02:00 AM

It’s like the windows of heaven are open, pouring us out a wealth of promises we can hardly contain.  The candidates are dishing or is that shoveling it out.  A billion dollar Heritage Fund – pick us!  Review MLA salaries – pick us!  More money for teachers – pick us!  Higher oil royalties – pick us! We’ll chop MLA salaries, pick us!  We’ll tax the rich – pick us!  Look what we’ve got - More money for cities.  Renovate NAIT?  Done.  Over here - your MLA not working out – recall.  Look at us -we’ll clean up the oil sands.  This way for free votes in the leg.  Tuition refund over there.  Over this way a tax credit for not being a couch potato.  What about us - we’ll build clinics from BC to Saskatchewan.  Have you heard our song? Our party will serve you, first.  Two promises I’m really waiting for – cut the provincial gasoline tax, and raise the tax refund limit on charitable donations, so we can all help each other.  Let me know what you think, below.

I want a government that is responsible, considerate and careful with MY money! (That being a collective "MY", or should I say "OUR" money)

I prefer the promise that they will run on common sense or grow a brain.

Or better show us how they will attain their goals with numbers that makes sense. Sort of like how the late Jack Layton made a promise and said that the money will come from reversing the corporate tax cuts. And not like Klein's numbers that made mistakes that kindergarten level math would avoid.

Ha same old same old, promises, promises, promises. What about the working man.
Cost of living, gasoline taxe's, utlities cost, It is getting way out of hand. The cost to the working man is unreal. MLA salaries, I like to see a job description as to what they are required to do for there pay and also the hours they are required to work.
Once elected it is a free for all, then they say Oh did I say that what I really meant WAS!!!. We need someone to stand up for the people that put them there. ACOUNTABLITY how hard is that. Do what you say and say what you do, it is that easy.

The candidates will say almost anything to get elected. It's like a huge ego thing. All those elected representatives should be held accountable with regard to their election promises. Your points were good, Bob, but there are so many issues that need to be addressed that are kept covert, for example, the chemtrail/geoengineering programs that are an amost daily occurance in Edmonton, the dangers of fluoridating our water supplies, the installation of smart meters in Edmonton (wireless radiaition of up to 100,000 mW output), and the installation of wifi on light posts etc. Who is bringing up these issues? A lot of things are decided on behind closed doors. When you contact officials about these matters you either are ignored or shut down. I think the democratic process is a ruse and the people who are being served, represented, and protected are the cartels, and the elite.

@Sharon Amen Sharon!!!....The costs of each family to maintain their basic homes, utilities, heating and water have absolutely become criminal.
Utility companies are bouncing the public as puppets, continually coming up with some mystery linguistic concoctions to describe what it is they are doing for you....even if it is nothing. Didn't Alison Redford say she would be having a review of these....Change it to an investigation Ms. Redford,..that has more clout. A review tells me you have no intention to do anything about it!!!
And the chem-trails, smart meters, flouridation, and wifi radiations....Well, Bob will cut me off long before I could even get started on these other illegal, unregulated, violations of the Alberta people.

Get rid of the gas tax, get rid of the out rages buy outs for m l a's .get the seniors a tax exempt of 25,000. They worlked hard enough thru their lives. Get the health care right. If Albertans are sick they cant pay their taxes.. Oh yes one more thing, get rid of the out rages pension plan the retired politicians get. That is where you can get the extra money to pay seniors their medicine
