Are You Worth It?
Posted 4/10/2012 1:46:00 AM

I asked the Twitter-verse for the best questions to ask candidate door-knockers.  Here we go.  Why should I vote for a party that has no chance of forming the government?  Who will pay for my “free” education?  What is your party's plan to make sure qualified students can find a seat in a university or college in Alberta?  You’ve been in power a long time, why haven’t you already made the changes you’re promising?  You have never governed a province – how do I know you are capable?  How much does the MLA job pay?  Are you worth it?  Were you on the do-nothing committee?  Can you tell me which countries have universal health care?  How would it benefit me personally to vote for your party?  Would you vote against your party in the interests of your community?  How will you end the scourge of politicians serving themselves instead of Albertans?  Will you kill the gold-plated pensions?  Will you sign an agreement to resign when your promises fail?

    Hi Bob,

One need only look up "Joe Anglin property electricity" on youtube and take the time to watch the presentation which is in six parts. I watched it and was shocked to the core. It is fully comprehensive and accurate. He was threatened with lawsuits but they never materialized because he did his homework and then some. So my question to candidates and voters would be "Are you prepared to pay between three times and eight times more for you monthly power if the current legislation,
Bills 10, 19, 36, and 50 are kept." ONLY Wildrose has promised to repeal them. If they are note repealed, we are in big trouble. And then some.

@Don You mean Don,...we will get to keep our property without government confiscation and violation of our Constitutional rights as property owners???
      What a concept,...democracy?
Now, someone needs to have a word with our Mrs. Smith about the compulsory radiation emitting "smart" meters that are secretly being installed on each and every home owners property under the guise...."Oh, we're just updating the meter to improve our service to you"
Now there is big pile of KAKA if I've ever seen one!!!
There should be more than enough violations of our Alberta communities by the current Nanny Red and her Little Blue Riding Hoods to convince Albertans that they have "TO GO"!!!

My question: Were you on the do nothing committee, have you already paid back the $40,000 money to me and my neighbors, or are you waiting for your leader to get re-elected so she can change her mind again?

Would you vote for the right of voter recall of an elected MLA, would you put that in writing, and would you vote that if an MLA is recalled, so is any right to a pension of any kind?

Would you swear to resign if you intend to cross the floor and represent an opposing party you were not elected for?

Would you vote to abolish the party system so elected MLAs would represent the people in the ridings who elected them and not just become pawns for the party leader...would you vote for democracy?

You're government and your party are the ones who have placed our health care system in the shape that it is in, the fiasco of the do nothing committee, patronizing of your party members, and the problems with the education system, not to mention the golden handshake fiascos,..why should I believe that you somehow "NOW" have the knowledge and ability to right your wrongs?

    Bob replies: Great question!

The three things I would like to hear are:
    1. Were you on the 'do nothing' committee, and if so have you paid back the money to the taxpayers? If you were on the committee....did you have no shame accepting the money after doing, well, nothing?
    2. Would you vote to recall the 'golden handshake' pensions and payments? Have them reset to a level that the rest of us will have to count on?
    3. This is shocking to me...pun intended....as per Don's post regarding utility rates going up by 3 to 8 times more than we already pay. Are you prepared to absolutely guarantee that your party will make sure this doesn't happen? How?

Hi Bob , I would ask the wild rose about the deni cash that she is going to give all Alberta. Is people in Ontario or any other Provinces that have never lived in Alberta going to get some of this money like what happen with the Ralf bucks. If they are going to give out oil money give it to anyone that has a vehicle registration in Alberta.
