A 27-year old Beaumont man is facing 47 charges related to a series of robberies that dates back to December.
Known as “The Hangover Bandit”, police received several reports of people alleging being robbed at knife point in southeast Edmonton by a suspect who had the smell of alcohol on his breath between December 30, 2016 and May 14, 2017.
Early Sunday morning officers received a robbery call near a convenience store at 60 Street and Mill Woods Road.
Police quickly flooded the area to search for the suspect who had fled in a Mini-Cooper. The vehicle was spotted by officers who were able to corner it and arrest the suspect without incident.
“This involved some excellent police work from the division,” said EPS A/Det. Nancy Ho. “This individual traumatized a lot of people, resulting in some employees even quitting their jobs out of fear, so we’re pleased to have him charged and before the courts.”
Justin James Taylor is charged with 20 counts of robbery, 14 counts of wearing a disguise with intent, 13 counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and one count of uttering threats.
