Seven different players scored for the Edmonton Oilers as they trounced the Dallas Stars 7-1 Tuesday night at Rogers Place.
Benoit Pouliot opened the scoring 12:12 into the first period, netting his first goal since December 8. Oscar Klefbom pounded home a point shot on the power play late in the frame to give the Oilers a 2-0 cushion after one.
Darnell Nurse put a shot just inside the post to make it 3-0 early in the second. Brett Ritchie replied for Dallas, but David Desharnais and Patrick Maroon scored goals 1:59 apart to make it 5-1 with 8:31 left in the second. That was it for Dallas goalie Antti Niemi, pulled after allowing five goals on 20 shots.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Connor McDavid scored 1:43 apart in the third to round the scoring.
Cam Talbot made 22 saves for the win. The Oilers improve to 36-24-9 and sit fourth in the Pacific Division, one point back of Calgary and Anaheim.
The Oilers will host Boston on Thursday. (jrw)
