The Edmonton Oilers will pay tribute to the Edmonton Police Service on Tuesday night. The EPS is celebrating its 125th anniversary.
“It’s really nice to give them the accolades and the acknowledgements that they deserve because we’re thankful for what they do,” said Oilers Entertainment Group vice-chair Kevin Lowe.
During the pre-game warm-up, all Oilers players will wear jerseys with the ‘EPS 125’ patch on the front and EPS logo patches on the shoulders.
“It’ll be a real honour to wear the jersey tomorrow night. I get the opportunity to drop the puck with a couple of community members here,” says Chief of Police Rod Knecht. Lowe presented with Knecht with a jersey of his own during a news conference Monday afternoon.
The jerseys will be auctioned off after the season with the proceeds going to the EPS.
