An Alberta inmate’s dash for freedom lasted less than four hours.
Fort Saskatchewan RCMP said Douglas Bruno John was apprehended around 5 p.m. Saturday, after a short pursuit of a stolen truck ended on Highway 29 with no injuries.
The Mounties said John had made a break for it around 1:40 p.m. Saturday, after overpowering a couple of officers from Correctional Services Canada while he was at the Fort Saskatchewan Hospital.
John is then accused of stealing a pickup truck from a nearby home, which had been left running and unoccupied.
He has been serving an armed robbery sentence at the Edmonton Institution, and will now face the possibility of even more time tacked on to his sentence. (td)
