The suspense surrounding Milan Lucic’s status for Tuesday night’s game between the Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs didn’t last long.
Lucic didn’t take the morning skate, but Oilers head coach Todd McLellan says, “He’s at the rink this morning and participating in meetings and has an extra morning off.” Lucic is expected to play.
The Oilers and Leafs meet for the second time month. On November 1 in Toronto, Nazem Kadri scored in overtime to lift the Leafs to a 3-2 victory. Kadri had two goals in the game and was very physical with Oilers star Connor McDavid. However, McLellan says he won’t shy away from that match-up.
“I think Kadri will be out there against Connor a lot tonight,” he says.
The Oilers are coming off two losses to the Arizona Coyotes in which they scored only three goals.
“You still have to be structured in your defence and your chances come off that,” says winger Jordan Eberle.
The Oilers expected lineup is:
Lucic – McDavid – Puljujarvi
Maroon – Nugent-Hopkins – Eberle
Pouliot – Draisaitl – Caggiula
Hendricks – Letestu – Kassian
Klefbom – Larsson
Sekera – Russell
Nurse – Benning
Defenceman Mark Fayne has cleared waivers and has been assigned to the Bakersfield Condors.
The Oilers and Leafs are on 630 CHED with the Face-off Show at 5:30pm. The game starts at 7pm. (jrw)
