A break-in at an office of the Wildrose Party in Edmonton has prompted the party to explain the details to members in a letter.
In the letter, leader Brian Jean says the laptops stolen were password protected, no credit card information was on them and despite the attempt, the thieves didn’t make off with the party’s server.
However, Jean says they cannot be certain there was no breach and have moved their server to a secure location.
He says police are investigating the break-in and since it happened, party members have been receiving unsolicited calls from other political parties, without stating which ones.
But later in the letter, Jean adds that he has heard some members have received calls claiming to be on behalf of the Wildrose, encouraging them to buy a PC membership and vote in their leadership race.
Jean says the Wildrose party is not involved in those calls. (twd)
