The Edmonton Oilers are back home and hoping to be very rude hosts to the Dallas Stars.
The Stars will be playing for the second night in a row after grabbing a 4-2 win in Calgary last night. On paper, the schedule might look like an advantage for the Oilers, but they know there’s a lot of work to do to actually make it an advantage.
“If we come out and give Dallas an easy night and let them skate around and play the way they want to play, the back-to-back is not going to affect them. If we force them into a hard game, one of those games along the wall, the back-to-back can creep in and hopefully get a team to quit,” says centre Mark Letestu.
The Oilers lead the Pacific Division by two points over the Anaheim Ducks. After a 2-2-1 road trip, the team is feeling like they left some points on the table.
“I think there are certain things we’re satisfied about. To come away with five points is OK. But I think this is a group in here that has taken a step mentality-wise. To a man in here, I think we believe we could have won all five games,” says Letestu.
The Oilers expected lineup is:
Maroon – McDavid – Eberle
Pouliot – Nugent-Hopkins – Puljujarvi
Lucic – Draisaitl – Pitlick
Lander – Letestu – Slepyshev
Klefbom – Larsson
Sekera – Benning
Nurse – Gryba
The Oilers and Stars are on 630 CHED with the Face-off Show at 5:30pm. The game starts at 7pm. (jrw)
