It’s 12 years in jail for a man who kidnapped somebody and cut off his thumb.
Steven Vollrath has been sentenced on charges of kidnapping, aggravating assault, possession of a weapon and impersonating a police officer.
Back in January 2015, Vollrath and two others took Richard Suter from his home, cut off his thumb and left him in the snow. At the time, Richard Suter was awaiting trial for refusing to provide a breath sample after crashing his SUV into a restaurant patio, killing 2 year old Geo Mounsef.
Suter is appealing his sentence to the Supreme Court of Canada. (bw)
