A man is recovering in hospital after a carjacking took a turn for the worse in one of two random attacks.
The victim, in his 20s, showed up in hospital with non life-threatening stab wounds at around 4:30pm Tuesday. He reported being approached by a man trying to steal his vehicle near 98 Avenue and 156 Street, and when he wouldn’t give it up he was assaulted.
Police started tracking down a 28-year-old male suspect, and caught up with him after another reported assault in the area, where a man was punched by an assailant out of nowhere.
The victims didn’t know their attacker, and officers say drugs likely played a factor in the man’s behaviour.
The suspect is charged with a number of offences, including aggravated assault, robbery, possession of a weapon, and breach of a court order. (kdr)
