Three former Edmonton Oilers will lead the charge in getting youngsters involved in hockey.
Jason Strudwick, Fernando Pisani, and Jeff Deslauriers will be instructors in the Lil’ Oilers program, which will hit the ice in February at the Downtown Community Arena.
“The goal of a program like this isn’t to develop NHLers. It’s to develop people who love sport, who love hockey,” says Strudwick. “That leads to a healthy person, when they’re active and they love sport.”
Lil’ Oilers is for boys and girls born in 2010 or 2011. Kids will get seven on-ice sessions with the three alumni members plus other certified instructors. Participants will be picked via a lottery. You can learn more and apply here until December 11. (jrw)
