MacEwan University has confirmed no threat remained on campus despite a social media post that came out early Tuesday morning.
The school sent students word that Edmonton police had alerted them to the threat, and that security was being increased on campus. They went ahead with regular classes.
Head of Security Services for MacEwan, Raymond Boudreau, told Global News how they responded, without cancelling classes. “We increased security. Certainly MacEwan University utilizes technology in its overall safety program for the environment. It is implementing strategies to make sure that safe environment exists.”
The investigation led EPS officers to a home in Sherwood Park where a 19-year-old man was taken into custody without incident at approximately 11:30 a.m. Charges are pending against the individual.
In a statement early on Tuesday afternoon, MacEwan said the matter was in the hands of EPS. (eb)
