It’s been a new beginning for Nail Yakupov.
“It is different. I’m enjoying the time here. I’m enjoying to play with these guys,” says Yakupov, who was traded to the St. Louis Blues by the Edmonton Oilers on October 7.
In four games with the Blues, Yakupov has a goal and an assist. With the Oilers, his career had stagnated. He didn’t get a lot of ice time and rarely produced when he did play. With the injury to Jori Lehtera, Yakupov is expected to be on an offensive line with Paul Stastny and Robby Fabbri.
“You can tell really disciplined the way we play, the way we practice. A few guys have been in the league for many years,” says Yakupov. “Everyone knows what to do on the ice. You really want to be part of it.”
Here’s Yakupov’s full interview with Jack Michaels:
As for the Oilers, they’ve called up defenceman Ben Betker from the Bakersfield Condors and placed blueliner Mark Fayne on injured reserve.
The Oilers and Blues meet Thursday night at Rogers Place. Catch the game on 630 CHED with the Face-off Show at 5:30pm. The game starts at 7pm. (jrw)
