As we head into a Thanksgiving weekend, I’m sure you are thankful for the love of your life. I came across this odd story:
COUPLES WHO GET MARRIED ON A HOLIDAY MORE LIKELY TO DIVORCE
Couples who get married on holidays like Halloween, Valentine’s Day, or New Year’s may think they are being unique … but they may actually be dooming their relationship.
A new study found that couples who get married on holidays are between 18% and 36% more likely to get divorced than couples who get married on regular days.
Researchers from the Melbourne Institute explain, “Couples who marry on ordinary dates may be more strongly influenced by characteristics of their relationships and their compatibility than couples who marry on special dates.”
Sounds like couples who get married on holidays are more about the actual wedding day and less about the relationship. (The Stir)
Looking back, it wasn’t the wisest thing, but we were married on New Year’s Eve; and it will be 40 years this year. Is there any reason why you chose your particular wedding date?
