Eileen Bell will field her question shortly, but let’s start with this. The city has had a struggle recently meeting deadlines. There have been delays with the Metro L R T line, the 102nd avenue bridge and now more delays on the Walterdale. The mayor thinks we should not focus so much on deadlines. Zero tolerance for delays and cost over runs will make it difficult for tenders to factor this in while bidding in the future. As the mayor put it “try renovating a kitchen that way”. City manager Linda Cochrane feels a lesson has been learned as the city has been a little too optimistic on timelines without leaving room for “inevitable complexities”. Some of you may have some experience with contractors and kitchen renovations. What are your thoughts?
