The Eskimos defense has been trending in the right direction as of late and a new addition has helped in that cause.
The Eskimos visit the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Friday night, defensive end Phillip Hunt will play his first game in Winnipeg in six years where he was a CFL All-Star with the Bombers in 2010 collecting 16 quarterback sacks.
Hunt says he’s looking forward to his return.
Hunt spent the last five years in the NFL, so far with the Eskimos Hunt has five defensive tackles and two sacks in three games. Head coach Jason Maas says Hunt has added more pressure on the quarterbacks.
It looks like Marcus Howard will return on the defensive line, he took first team reps again today at practice. Howard hasn’t played since July 28 because of a knee injury. Linebacker Blair Smith also practiced today and looks ready to make a return. Smith hasn’t played since Labour Day because of injury.
Kick-off Friday from Investors Group Field is 6:30pm, you can hear the game on CISN Country One-oh-Three-point-Nine starting with the pre-game show at 5:30pm.
