A 60-year-old man from High River has been charged after Mounties say a hay bale from the pickup truck he was driving became loose causing a collision.
Around 4:45 Sunday afternoon, the man was towing a dump trailer full of hay bales on Highway 23 near Blackie, when one fell or blew off landing in the middle of the road.
Behind him were a large group of motorcyclists, when one of them, a 41-year-old Calgary woman, struck the hay bale and crashed onto the road. She was airlifted to a Calgary hospital by STARS with unspecified injuries.
The man was not injured in the incident, and has been charged with operating a motor vehicle without a licence, and transporting goods without securing the goods properly. (dac)
