The Edmonton Oilers will play the Winnipeg Jets Monday afternoon at 12:30pm Mountain time in their final game of the Young Stars tournament in Penticton. You’ll be able to listen to the game on 630 CHED.
– After wins over Vancouver and Calgary, the Oilers can sweep the tournament with a win over Winnipeg. “Going into the weekend, we talked about wanting to win the tournament,” says centre Drake Caggiula. “We’ve done it two years in a row. We want to make it a third time.”
– 2016 first round draft pick Jesse Puljujarvi will return to action after sitting out Saturday’s game against Calgary. Puljujarvi had two goals and an assist Friday versus Vancouver.
– Keven Bouchard will start in goal. The Oilers drafted him in the seventh round in 2014. The Oilers have yet to name a starting goalie for Wednesday’s game against the Alberta Golden Bears. Dylan Wells made 35 saves on 38 shots Saturday against Calgary. Nick Ellis stopped 29 of 30 Friday against Vancouver.
– Former Red Deer Rebel Kayle Doetzel was dealing with a migraine when he fought 6’7″ Hunter Smith in the second period on Saturday. Doetzel started getting migraines in junior high and when they get bad he has trouble with his vision and speech. Doetzel wound up knocking down Smith in a spirited bout, but he didn’t return to the game afterwards. (jrw)
