Just hours before a deadline was set to comply with gay-straight alliances, an Edmonton pastor sent a letter from his lawyer saying he won’t do it.
Pastor Brian Coldwell says he feels it’s his duty as a pastor not to allow them in his two Edmonton area Christian schools.
An education spokeswoman, Larissa Liepins confirmed they recieved the letter, but wouldn’t discuss the content.
Liepins says the government will respond to the letter on Monday.
The Baptist Christian Education Society, which Coldwell chairs, receives 70 percent of its funding from the province.
Coldwell likened the law that requires schools to allow GSA’s to religious persecution. (km/Global News)
