With people of Edmonton and area watching the Northlands saga, a Mainstreet/Postmedia poll just out tells us what some people are thinking.
Quito Maggi, President of Mainstreet Research, says, “47% of those asked approve of expanding Northlands into a high capacity concert and festival venue, but how to pay for it is up in the air. 40% are not sure about selling land and creating mixed use development to pay for the project.”
As for who should operate Northlands, Maggi says, ” 57% of those asked believe the city should run it, even if it means spending more public money on Northlands.”
Asked about funding a conversion of the Northlands Coliseum, respondents seem to be evenly split. 34% are in favor, and 34% are opposed. Maggi says, “It’s the 32% who are undecided that critics and proponents of the plan will have to focus on.”
