A piece of land almost smack dab in the middle of Sherwood Park is being developed into a mixed use area.
Meaning it will be used for both shopping and residential.
Cameron Corporation is developing the lot and executive vice president Cameron Naqvi says the advantage of building on this piece of land is the surrounding area is already established.
“That’s some of the appeal of it is you’re basically coming into an established neighbourhood, as opposed to a green field or developing in the suburbs where you’re kind of waiting for the schools and that infrastructure to come it’s already here existing today.”
He says they’ve already secured an anchor tenant in Planet Organic and that will help to lure other business to the building.
“For us it always starts with kind of getting the merchandising mix and getting the right tenant mixture is really critical for something like this because it’s really important to try and make sure that we bring and drive traffic to support what’s not in the community.”
He says they’re currently going through the permitting process with the county, but hoping for construction to start this fall and have it open by spring of 2018.
