It might not be the biggest one in Edmonton, but the relatively new Streathearn Art Walk is hoping to bring people together in southeast Edmonton Saturday.
The Strathearn Art Walk’s Jenny McAlister says people can support local artists by adding new original pieces to their collections. She says it’s been growing strong since 2012.
“The Strathearn Art Walk started five years ago really just as a community event. We had a couple of art galleries in our neighbourhood and we thought, well, let’s come up with a way to showcase some of these artists and create a bit of an environment where neighbours can come out and hang out,” said McAlister.
“It’s a great opportunity for artists — new artists that maybe haven’t tried selling their stuff and the pros that are at different event to come and sell their stuff.”
McAlister says there is a beer garden, live music, and food, including a sandwiches with Strathearn’s famous pickled onions.
The Strathearn Art Walk is on Saturday from 12:00pm to 5:00pm. (djs)
