The AGLC is rolling out a new program to curb problem drinking. It’s called DrinkSense and as President and CEO of the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission Bill Robinson says, there’s plenty of information on their website already, and an online questionnaire is coming to help you determine if your drinking is becoming dangerous.
“This would show the drinker, who potentially could be a heavy drinker, give them some signal or some feedback as to how much they’re using, which could essentially move them toward seeking assistance.”
Robinson says they’re phasing the roll out so as best to maintain engagement. One of the big tools that Robinson is most excited about is the one which will help parents engage in conversation with their kids.
“I think that this is going to be one roll out feature of DrinkSense that will allow parents to have some tools and really allow youth to go on and start the conversation.”
The first phase is online now and it features information tailored to both men and women as well as youth and parents, young adults and even seniors with an entire section dedicated to Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.
