A man is facing numerous charges after getting chased by police across the city.
At around 9:20pm Thursday, Police tried to box in a 1995 Chevy Astrovan they suspected had been stolen near 118th Avenue and 94th Street. It had been spotted earlier in the day, but officers were not able to give chase at the time.
The van pushed its way through the police cruisers, and headed south.
Going at high speeds, officers were given the ok to make physical contact to try and slow it down, but they were not successful. It eventually started going towards the airport, so RCMP were called to help out.
A spike belt was deployed, and the van went into the ditch after losing a couple of tires.
The suspect tried to run away on foot, but police were able to grab him at last. A 46-year-old man has been arrested and has been handed a list of offences, including for theft, criminal flight, dangerous driving, and breach of recognizance. (kdr)
