Tests have come back that show Hawrelak Park Lake can be used for the triathlon that starts in a few days.
City and triathlon officials had been concerned that the amount of blue-green algae in the lake would be too high to allow athletes to compete. The latest tests show that there are cells present, but the levels are low enough that it won’t pose any risk to the athletes.
The ITU World Triathlon Edmonton goes in Hawrelak Park September 2-4. (kb)
