The Edmonton Oilers have acquired some local talent.
St. Albert native Matthew Benning has signed a two-year contract with the team.
The 6’1” 200 pound blueliner is the son of former Oilers defenceman Brian Benning.
Matthew Benning appeared in 41 games with the Northeastern Huskies last season, posting 19 points (6G, 13A) and 37 penalty minutes.
The 22-year-old was originally selected by the Bruins in the 6th round of 2012 NHL Draft.
