An RCMP Explosives Disposal Unit from Edmonton had to be sent to the detachment in Coaldale on Friday, just east of Lethbridge.
The Mounties say it was to deal with a stick of dynamite that was left in place outside of the building, with the detachment and some surrounding businesses evacuated as a precaution.
It began around 2 p.m., when a local resident arrived at the detachment telling officers she had found the stick of dynamite during the course of cleaning up her property and wanted the RCMP to dispose of it.
But it instead of calling officers to her property, she brought the stick of dynamite to them in her minivan. (td)
